The President’s Commission on White House Fellowships is responsible for selecting and recommending to the President those individuals it finds most qualified for an appointment as White House Fellows. The commission is composed of approximately thirty outstanding citizens who represent a broad range of backgrounds, interests, and professions. During the selection process, the President's Commission on White House Fellowships interviews national finalists at a location near Washington, D.C - interviewing, interacting with, and observing the finalists. “I am immensely honored to have been asked by our President to participate in the process of selecting some of our nation’s finest young minds that will ultimately be responsible for shaping our future,” said Mr. DeJoy. “Many of our great leaders in government and private industry have participated in the White House Fellows Program.”
Founded in 1964, the White House Fellows program offers exceptional young men and women first-hand experience working at the highest levels of the federal government. White House Fellows typically spend a year working as full-time, paid special assistants to senior White House Staff, the Vice President, Cabinet Secretaries and other top-ranking government officials. Fellows also participate in an education program consisting of roundtable discussions with renowned leaders from the private and public sectors, as well as trips to study U.S. policy in action both domestically and internationally.
DeJoy’s interest in supporting the intellectual growth of future leaders includes his involvement as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Fund for American Studies (TFAS). TFAS educates young leaders on the values of freedom, democracy and free-market economies. Eleven institutes around the world bring college students together for educational programs, engaging them in a rigorous examination of economic concepts, political systems and moral philosophy. The goal of TFAS is to prepare young people for honorable leadership by educating them in the theory, practice and benefits of a free society.
